Identity and origin
Liu Bao is a Guangxi dark tea with a long history of trade to Southeast Asia. Modern and traditionally stored styles can differ greatly.
Craft and leaf style
Fixing, rolling, piling, drying and later storage shape the tea; basket packing is a recognizable traditional format.
Aroma, taste and texture
Betel-nut, wood, jujube, grain, gentle earth and a smooth, cooling finish may appear in clean examples.
Practical guidance
Use 5-7g per 100ml with boiling water, or prepare in a larger pot for daily drinking.
Identification and caution
Mustiness is not a quality marker. Ask about year, processing and storage, and reject mold or contaminated odors.
