Mengku Town sits in a mountain-valley system beneath the Daxueshan area. Bingdao is one well-known village complex within the wider Mengku geography; other villages and material sources should retain their own names.
Why this origin matters
The region is closely associated with Mengku large-leaf tea resources and with the spread of planting material. It is also a useful case for studying how one famous name can overshadow a much larger production system.
How to read the market name
A label saying 'Mengku' should not be upgraded to 'Bingdao' by implication. Ask for the village, garden side, harvest and whether the lot is pure material or a regional blend.
Practical guidance
Use a map to place Bingdao, Xiaohusai and other villages within the larger Mengku system, then taste by declared village only when batch records support the comparison.
Identification and caution
The commercial value of the Bingdao name creates strong incentives for loose labeling. Geography must be documented rather than inferred from sweetness or aroma.
