Identity and origin
Lu'an Guapian is unusual among famous Chinese green teas because finished tea is made from leaf material rather than emphasizing buds and stems.
Craft and leaf style
Selected leaves are shaped into slightly curled seed-like pieces through careful pan work and staged drying, producing a robust but refined green tea.
Aroma, taste and texture
Sweet vegetal, toasted seed, chestnut and orchid-like notes can appear with a fuller body than many bud-focused greens.
Practical guidance
Try 3g per 250ml at 80-85°C; the leaf can handle slightly more heat than very tender bud teas.
Identification and caution
A leaf-based style is not a lower grade by definition. Judge shape consistency, aroma and clean strength.
