Dianhong is Yunnan black tea made from local large-leaf material, ranging from golden-bud styles to robust leaf grades suited to daily drinking.
Craft and leaf style
Leaves are withered, rolled, oxidized and dried. Bud proportion and rolling intensity shape whether the tea is delicate, broad or brisk.
Aroma, taste and texture
Honey, malt, cocoa, sweet potato, dried fruit and gentle spice are common around a rounded body.
Practical guidance
Use 2-3g per 250ml at 90-95°C for 2-3 minutes, or 5g per 100ml gongfu.
Identification and caution
Golden buds are visually attractive but do not alone determine depth or value. Compare aroma, body and finish.
