Identity and origin
Zhengshan Xiaozhong is a historic Wuyishan black tea. Traditional pine-smoked and modern unsmoked styles both exist, so smoke is not the sole definition.
Craft and leaf style
Withering, rolling and oxidation are followed by drying; traditional smoked versions interact with pine smoke during withering or drying stages.
Aroma, taste and texture
Unsmoked tea can show longan, honey and dried fruit; smoked styles add pine, resin and campfire while retaining sweetness.
Practical guidance
Use 3g per 250ml at 90-95°C for 2-3 minutes.
Identification and caution
Distinguish protected-origin Zhengshan tea from generic smoked 'Lapsang Souchong' made elsewhere.
